Located in the
middle of Germany, close to Weimar, I found this interesting
roundhouse which was built in 1876 when the track between
Gera, Jena and Weimar was established. The roundhouse is
still in use today. When in 1997 the big German railway
company "Die Bahn" decided to leave the roundhouse, a local
society of train-collectors moved in. They are called the
"Thueringer Eisenbahnverein" and they do have some
real treasures hidden in their roundhouse. But let's have a
closer look at a location which is very much like a typical
workplace from 60 years ago. |
